Reid Pettit is a STHS graduate of the class of 1968. While attending Sterling Township High School, Reid was a standout member of the golf team and recieved four varsity letters.

During his junior year in 1967, he finished second individually at the conference meet. The following year, he earned fifth place at the conference meet. Each year the team seized the conference championship. Also his senior year, the team won the district championship and advanced to the state seet. At the state meet, Reid tied for second place, but lost in the playoff round and received third place. At the conclusion of the golf season Reid was named the MVP.

Upon graduation in 1968, he attended the University of Illinois, where he graduated from in 1972. He then continued his education at the Illinois College of Optometry, for four years until he received his Doctorate in 1979.

Reid founded Reid A. Pettit O.D. & Associates Family Eye Care & Contact Lens Center in Pontiac, Ill.
