Peter Eshleman, born December 14, 1963, is a STHS graduate of the class of 1982. While attending Sterling Township High School, he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track. A 6-foot, 200 pound fullback for the football team, Peter was an All-Conference and All-State member his junior and senior year. In 1981, the team had a season record of 5-4 and his senior year the team had a record of 6-4. Peter held the Twin City scoring lead with eight touchdowns and 48 total points. He ran over 2,700 yards and averaged 5.7 yards a carry. At the conclusion of his high school football career, he received the Taualii Memorial Award and Most Valuable Player Award. In track, he captured the Rock Island Meet record in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 0:40.3 in 1981. Later that season, he qualified for the state meet in the 300-meter low hurdles. At the NCIC Meet in 1982, he received second place in the 300-meter low hurdles and third place in the long jump. During the sectional meet, he qualified again for the state meet in the 1600-meter relay and 300-meter low hurdles, where he also set the school record 0:37.9. Upon graduation from SHS in 1982, Peter accepted a football scholarship from DePauw University. While there, he was a member of the varsity team all four years. Receiving collegiate commencement in 1986, Peter was employed by Illinois Forge, where he obtained the Vice President position. Aside from his career, he has two daughters and two sons.
