Tim Arnold, born August 28, 1965, is a SHS graduate of the class of 1984. While attending Sterling High School, Tim earned three varsity letters in football and four in track.In track, Tim participated in 800-meter relay, long jump, 400-meter relay, 1600-meter medley, 880-yard relay, 60-yard dash, 220-yard dash, 100-meter yard dash, and the 200-meter dash. During his freshman year, Tim qualified for the IHSA State Meet with a time of 1:28.69 in the 800-meter relay. His sophomore year, he set the SHS record of 0:22.1 in the 200-meter dash, 0:42.7 in the 400-meter relay, and 1:28.69 in the 800-meter relay. The same year, he qualified for the state meet in the 200-meter dash, 800-meter relay, and in the 400-meter dash. The 800-meter relay team finished in eighth place, with a time of 1:29.55. In 1983, Tim qualified for the state meet for the third consecutive year in the 1600-meter relay (3:22), 400-meter relay (0:43.3), and 800-meter relay (1:29). The 1600-meter relay team captured the school record. Tim's senior year, the 400-meter relay team set the school record of 0:42.5 and qualified for the state meet. He also succeeded to the state meet in the 800-meter relay (0:42.83) and 1600-meter relay (1:29.5). Tim was named All-Conference in 1982, 83, and 84.In football, his sophomore year he had 587 passing yards, 40 completions, 89 attempts, 45% completion, four passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. Tim was a member of the 1983 undefeated SHS Hall of Fame inducted football team. He had 896 passing yards, 48 completion, 80 attempts, 60% completion, 13 passing touchdowns, and three interceptions. He held a career record of 1,570 passing yards, 94 completions, 192 attempts, 49% completion, 19 passing touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He was also named All-Conference in both 1983 and 1984 and received the Roscoe Eades Award at the conclusion of his senior year.Upon graduation in 1984, Tim attended University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. While attending Notre Dame, he was a member of the intramural football team. After his college graduation 1988, Tim was employed by Microsoft, as a corporate account representative, where he was named "Top District Salesman" in 1998. Tim resides in St. Charles, Ill., with his wife, Lori, and three children.
