Teri McCormick, born November 12, 1974, is a graduate of the class of 1992. While attending SHS, she participated in track, basketball, and volleyball. In track, she received four varsity letters and All-Conference Honors each year. In addition, she qualified for the IHSA State Meet all four years of her high school career in shot put and three years in discus. Her sophomore and junior year, she finished in eigth place at state in the discus and was named to the All-State track team as a junior and senior. Captain her junior year, McCormick led the team to a fourth place finish at the IHSA State Meet. Also captain her senior year, she set two new SHS records in shot put throwing 41'1/4'' and in the discus throwing 129'8''. In addition to that year, she returned again to the state meet and finished with an outstanding fifth place in discus. At the end of her senior track season she was dubbed the Most Valuable Player, named to "Who's Who in High School Sports", and named to the Top Times All-State Track Team. In basketball, Teri McCormick was recognized with numerous awards and was a three-year varsity letter winner. Her sophomore year, she obtained the Rebound Award. She was named to the All-Twin City Team (co-captain) and the New-Mor-Roc-Ster All-Tournament Team. The following year she received the MVP Award, Rebound Award, Offensive Award, Free-Throw Award, Block Shot Award, and was named to the All-Conference Team. Captain her senior year, she attained the MVP Award, Offensive Award, Free-Throw Award, Recovery Award, Rebound Award, "Who's Who Among High School Sports" Award, and was named to the All-New-Mor-Roc-Ster Tourney Team, All Dixon Christmas Tourney Team, All-Twin City Team and All-Conference Team. She was also named to the All-Academic Conference Team for three years. Teri also participated in volleyball for four years and received two varsity letters. During her junior year she was part of the All-Conference Academic Team. Her senior year, she received various awards such as the Saves Award, Kill Spike Award, Stuff Block Award, Best Percent Serve Reception, and Best Percent Dink. Teri was named to the All-Twin City Team and All-Conference Team her senior year as well. Concluding her SHS athletic career she was honored with the Roscoe Eades Award. Upon graduating, she attended Sauk Valley Community College for two years where she played volleyball and basketball. In volleyball she was named to the All-Arrowhead Conference Team her freshman year and DuPage Invitational All-Tourney Team her freshman and sophomore year. While in basketball, she was appointed to the Region IV First Team in 1992 and 1993, Blackhawk East Christmas All Tourney Team in 1992 and 1993, Arrowhead Conference First Team in 1992 and 1993, Region IV Tournament All-Tourney Team in 1993, Rebound Award in 1992, MVP Award in 1993, and served as captain her sophomore year. She concluded her basketball season being selected as a National Junior College All-American Honorbal Mention. Transferring to Boston College, Teri played in all 27 games her junior year, making eleven starts. She began the season at the forward position and moved to the guard position by the end of the season. Teri was the second leading rebounder for the Eagles and received the Coaches Award, along being named captain at the end of the season. In 1996, she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and returned to Sterling to work for Northwestern Steel and Wire. In 1997, she became the assistant women's basketball coach at Sauk Valley Community College. Coaching there for two years, her teams won the conference and regionals twice.
