Christine Kent is a 1993 graduate of SHS. While at SHS, Christine earned varsity letters in tennis and track and field. A school record holder in three different events, it was in track where she had her biggest impact in SHS'S athletics history. As an instrumental member of 4 NCIC and Sectional Championship Teams, Christine shined. Competing in a tough NCIC Conference, she earned three high jump and three relay Conference Champion crowns to go along with her second and third place finishes. Christine also had great success at the sectional meet; finishing in the top 5 in numerous different events, including seven first place finishes.A four-year state qualifier, Christine earned state track meet medals in three consecutive years, becoming only the second SHS female track athlete to accomplish this feat. Her total of seven state track meet medals, include second, third, and seventh place finishes in the high jump to go along with one 5th place finish, two 4th place finishes and one state championship. However, Perhaps Christine's sophomore year was her most remarkable capturing an individual seventh place finish in the high jump, a 4th place finish in the 800m medley relay and first place finish in the 1600m relay, where she was the lead off runner. As the previous record holder of the high jump and a member of the current record holding 800m, 800m medley and the 1600m relay teams, Christine was the 1993 Roscoe Eades Award recipient. Christine received an athletic scholarship to compete in track and field at Illinois State University. A four-year varsity letter winner at ISU, Christine was a member of various conference championship teams. Currently, Christine resides in Minneapolis Minn., with her husband, Aaron. She is employed by the Children's Home Society, as an International Adoption Specialist, which involves frequent visits to the former Soviet Union.
