Bryon is a 1990 graduate of Sterling High School and the son of Edward and Debra Megli. Bryon was an outstanding athlete who excelled and lettered in football, basketball, and track. In football he was team captain, team and coaches’ MVP, All-Conference both his junior and senior years, and 1st team All-Area team. In basketball he was also selected to the All-Conference and All-Area teams. In track, Bryon also excelled as a weight man and was also chosen to the NCIC All-Conference team. Bryon was one of the most outstanding all-around athletes in Sterling High School history.

After graduating from SHS, Bryon went on to continue his athletic and academic career at Aurora University where he excelled in football. He was a 2 year Team Captain, a 4 year All- Conference performer, 4 year varsity letter winner, 2 year Illini Badger Conference Lineman of the Year, 2 year All-Region, and 2 year All-American. He was chosen as the MVP by the team and by the coaches. Bryon was also named the 2002 Aurora University Athlete of the Year. After graduation he came back and coached the defensive line from 2004-2006.
