Angie Minnick '11, daughter of Matt and Julie Minnick, is a three-sport athlete who earned four varsity letters in softball, three in basketball, and two in volleyball during her athletic career at SHS. On the softball diamond, Minnick was a member of record-setting teams that won conference titles both her junior and senior seasons. As a senior captain and winner of the Coaches’ Award, her seven home runs gave the Warriors fifty as a team this season, breaking their own state-record of forty-nine, set Angie’s junior season. She also had a team-leading 42 runs batted in.As a captain of the girls’ basketball team both her junior and senior seasons, Minnick led both teams to conference championships and was named to the all-conference first team both years. As a senior, Minnick was named to the Sauk Valley News All-Area third team, averaging eight points per game and 6.4 rebounds. She won the Offensive Player of the Year and the Rebound Award in her junior season and won the Attitude Award as a sophomore and a senior. Minnick was also a member of two regional championship volleyball teams that set records for most wins in school history. Minnick also earned the “S” award for participating in three sports each year of her high school career.Ranked in the top five of the class of 2011, Minnick earned All-Academic first team honors in all three sports for both her junior and senior years. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the SHS orchestra, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Big Brother/Big Sister. Other academic honors include the following: High Honor Roll every semester, Illinois State Scholar, Rotary Noon Scholar, and October Student of the Month. Minnick spends time with the Sacred Heart YoLight Youth Group and served as a youth retreat leader and Sacred Heart Parish Eucharistic Minister. She especially enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in outdoor activities such as bike riding, running, and swimming.Minnick will attend the Hutton Honors College in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and major in finance.
