Stephanie Kester '13 is the daughter of Darrin and Penny Kester. Stephanie earned six varsity letters; four in softball and two in basketball.In softball, Stephanie was named to the NCIC Second Team as a shortstop her freshman year and was unanimously chosen for the NIB-12 First Team as a pitcher her sophomore, junior, and senior years. All four years she was chosen First Team All-Area and during her junior and senior years she was named a NIB-12 All-Academic athlete. Stephanie was a four-year varsity starter as well as co-captain and co-MVP her junior and senior years. During her junior year, Stephanie was selected as All-State Second Team and also was chosen All-State First Team her senior year. Her career pitching record is 75-15, which broke the school record. Stephanie was the Sterling Chevrolet February Scholar Athlete of the Month and, on April 10th, 2012, the Athlete of the Week for Sauk Valley News.Stephanie's softball team finished with 28 wins her freshman year, 30 wins her sophomore year, 31 wins her junior year, and 28 wins her senior year for a combined 117-24 record in four years. They also won four consecutive conference championships and, during her junior and senior years, two regionals championships. During her senior year, the softball team won the sectional title, super sectional title, and ultimately finished 4th place in the state.As a part of the basketball team, Stephanie received honorable mention her senior year as a NIB-12 All-Conference athlete as well as being a NIB-12 All-Academic athlete her junior and senior years. She also received honorable mention her junior and senior years for All-Area.Stephanie was a two-year varsity starter and helped the team win the conference championship her senior year as well as the regional championship both her junior and senior years. As a senior, Stephanie was a part of the Sweet 16 team that made it to the sectional championship. In her junior season, she set the free throw percentage record of 85.3% for one season, received the Pat McKinzie Award, and made fifty-five 3-point shots, placing her fourth for the all time most 3-point shots made in one season. Then, in 2013, Stephanie set the career free throw percentage record of 86.4%, tied the school record of making six 3-point shots in one game, and ended the season having made sixty-one 3-point shots in one season, ranking her second all time. The number of 3-point shots made in her career of two years on varsity was 116, which ranked her second of all time for that as well.Stephanie's hobbies include traveling softball, shopping, spending time with family and friends, boating, jet-skiing, and fishing.
