Joseph Brouilette ’15 is the son of John ’80 and Karyn Brouilette ’81. As a three-sport athlete throughout high school and “S” Award winner, Joseph earned three varsity letters in football, basketball, and track for a total of nine varsity letters in his four years.In football, Joseph started on the defense for all three years he earned a varsity letter. After making the transition from linebacker to defensive end between his sophomore and junior years, Joseph flourished and was awarded NIB-12 1st All-Conference honors, 2nd Team All-Area and All-Western Illinois honors, and was named the team’s Defensive MVP. During Joseph’s senior season, he was named captain and led Sterling to their first playoff victory since 2011, where the Golden Warriors defeated Burlington Central 31-20. Joseph amassed 10 sacks during the season and his play and importance to the team garnered him Team MVP honors. Joseph yet again earned NIB-12 1st Team All Conference honors while also earning 1st Team All-Area, 1st Team All-Western Illinois, Academic All-State honors, while his teammates voted him for the Jim Scott Gut Award and team Defensive MVP.On the hardwood, Joseph was a mainstay in a program ridden with roster turnover. During his junior and senior seasons, Joseph captained two young teams that were never short on talent, but just could never get over the hump. Joseph’s 7.2 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game over the two years earned him Honorable Mention All-Conference honors, Most Improved, and Leading Rebounder his junior season, and the 3D Award his senior year. Both seasons Joseph was a Special Mention All-Area selection.In track, Joseph threw the shot put and discus all four years. As a varsity member, he amassed over 100 points and placed at sectionals both his junior (4th in shot put) and senior (5th in shot put and 6th in discus) year. Also during his senior season, Joseph was named team captain and was presented the DuWayne Dietz Memorial Track & Field scholarship.Joseph was awarded NIB-12 All-Academic honors six times; he was honored his junior and senior years in football, basketball, and track. In October of his senior year, he was named the Scholar Athlete of the Month.Outside of athletics, Joseph was an active part of the school community. He was co-Editor-in-Chief of Publications his senior year, as well as a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Freshman Mentor Program. His hobbies include reading, working out, watching sports, and being with friends and family.
