Erin Long ’18 is the daughter of Ed and Laura (Haberer) Long '82. Erin is the recipient of eight varsity letters for swimming, cross country, and track and field throughout her high school career.During her freshman fall season, Erin joined girls’ swimming and earned her place on the sectional team along with her varsity letter.From her sophomore year on, her fall season was spent running cross country, and she stood out as a leader from the start. Her first year, she received the Most Improved Runner award, followed by the Hustle Award her junior year, and she finished her senior year off as a captain of the cross country team. She was honored as a stand-out member of team by being named to the All-Conference team all three of her years running cross country.While Erin’s falls may have been split between the pool and the course, all of her springs were spent dominating the track. She ran varsity all four years, qualifying for the state meet each year and medaling her sophomore and juniors years (7th in the 4x100 and 7th in the 100 respectively). During her junior year, Erin made school history by setting a new school record of 12.09 seconds for the 100 meter dash. In addition, in both her junior and senior years, Erin made it to state in all four of her events (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, long jump, 4x100 her junior year and 4x200 her senior year). Through all her hard work and accomplishments, Erin was deservedly honored as a member of the All-Conference and All-Area teams all four years. Erin received the Fresh/Soph MVP award as a sophomore as well as the Varsity MVP award her junior and senior years.In her free time, Erin enjoys running, lifting, swimming, fishing, spending time with her family, volunteering as a photographer for the yearbook, and watching football. She will continue her track and field career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
