The 2020 Female Roscoe Eades Award was presented to Grace Gould, the daughter of Brenda and Jeff Gould. While at S.H.S., Grace earned the “S” Award for playing volleyball, girls’ basketball, and softball all four years, earning eleven varsity letters along the way. As a freshman, Grace almost immediately moved up to the sophomore volleyball team. While a sophomore, Grace was a key player on the sophomore team, but also dressed for the varsity team. While on the varsity team her sophomore year, the team won the regional title and broke the record of most wins in a season with a record of 35-4. The next two volleyball seasons were incomparable to the rest. In Grace's junior season, the team broke their own record with an astonishing 41 wins in a season, including regional, sectional, and super-sectional matches going into the state championship. The 2018 volleyball team went on to earn the first state title in S.H.S. history. The success did not stop there as Grace and the rest of the team’s captains fought for another victorious year of volleyball during her senior year. The team went on to achieve its second consecutive state title, with a record of 36-6 overall. At the end of her senior season, Grace was awarded Western Big 6 All-Conference Honorable Mention and had a total of 237 career kills. In the winters, Grace spent her time on the courts of Musgrove Fieldhouse, where, as a freshman, she was the starting point guard for the varsity squad. After her first year of varsity basketball, Grace was awarded the Jolene Leseman Recovery Award. In her sophomore season, Grace continued to thrive as an underclassmen earning her First Team All-Conference honors. After two losing seasons, Grace’s junior season took a change of pace as the team were undefeated conference champions and regional champions with an overall record of 24-5. After leading the team to an outstanding season and being a four-year varsity starter, Grace received the Jolene Leseman Recovery Award, Pat McKinize Free Throw Award and Most 3-Point Shots Made Award. Grace then earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and served as an honorary captain to wrap up her senior season finishing 16-16 overall. In total, Grace played 107 varsity games and scored 786 career points. To round out her career, Grace moved out to the softball diamonds, starting for the varsity team at second base her freshman year and assisting them to become conference and regional champions. Her hard work did not go unnoticed as she earned the Hustle Award and All-Conference Honorable Mention. From her sophomore season on, Grace moved to the most demanding defensive position: shortstop. She not only dominated the shortstop position but also helped the team win back-to-back conference and regional titles. She went on to receive All-Conference Honorable Mention, the Warrior Pride Award and the Hustle Award in her sophomore and junior softball season. Even though Grace was unable to experience her senior season of softball, she was nominated to serve as a captain of the team. In Grace’s three-year softball career, she played 98 career games, had 95 career hits and 74 career RBIs. Throughout the success of her sports, Grace managed to earn Academic All-Conference in all three sports her junior and senior years. When she is not playing sports, she is spending time with family and friends.
