W. Clark Prentiss graduated with honors from The University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., with a major in political science. In 1985, he received his master’s degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. The University of Florida awarded him a degree in education with minors in psychology and political science. Mr. Prentiss was chairperson of the Social Sciences Department of Valencia Community College in Orlando (a college of 40,000 students) for twenty-five years.Mr. Prentiss founded a highly awarded student volunteer program called Operation Student Concern that encouraged student volunteerism in cooperation with social service agencies in local communities. In 1976, Clark founded Operation Comeback, a program that promoted interaction between college student volunteers and young people referred by juvenile court judges. These interactions included weekly on-campus meetings and wilderness camping trips. Operation Comeback and Operation Student Concern received twenty major community service awards.The American Institute for Public Service honored Clark with the Jefferson Award sponsored by the local CBS television station.
