Roberto Carmona graduated from Sterling High School in 1983. He attended Sauk Valley Community College and received his Associate of Arts degree in 1985. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in political science from Northeastern Illinois University, Roberto attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he completed a second master’s degree in public administration.Roberto has served as Regional Director for the National Council of La Raza. He has worked as an academic advisor for the University of Illinois at Chicago and as an adult basic education instructor for the City Colleges of Chicago.From 1997-2002, Roberto directed programs in civil rights, workforce and community development for the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington D.C. In 2003, Roberto was the Director of Programs for the New America Alliance (NAA) in Washington D.C., where he oversaw the NAA’s Corporate Board Initiative, public policy program and the planning of the NAA’s annual Wall Street Summit in New York.From 2004-2005, Roberto was the lead Environmental Justice consultant for the Federal Aviation Administration’s oversight of the City of Chicago’s O’Hare Modernization Program.Roberto is a nationally recognized executive search consultant. His executive search highlights include placing the President of New Mexico Highlands University, assisting the City of Chicago in the search process for the current Superintendent of Police, overseeing a project to restructure the City of Chicago’s Department of Human Resources and serving as an executive recruitment consultant for the City of New Orleans. Currently, Roberto is the President and CEO of the Crimson Leadership Group (CLG), a strategic communications and leadership development consulting firm in Chicago. CLG provides strategic advertising services for the Safety Net Works (TSWN) of Illinois. TSWN is a statewide violence protection and community building initiative. Roberto’s firm provides management association services for the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives, a membership organization of the American College of Healthcare Executives.Roberto is married to Josette Heredia-Carmona. Josette serves as Program Director for Father Flannigan’s Boys Town Site in Chicago. Roberto and Josette have two daughters, Tonantzin Carmona is now a sophomore at Northwestern University as a Pre-Med major. His youngest daughter Xochitl Carmona is a freshman at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, majoring in business.
