Kimberly Peacock Kinzig attended Northern Illinois University from 1990-1993 and earned a B.S. in psychology from Florida State University in 1995. She received her M.S. in psychology from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1997 and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in 2002.While in graduate school, Kimberly conducted research on brain mediation of tumor-induced wasting. This work resulted in publication in the "Journal of Neuroscience" and a presentation at an international meeting in Dublin, Ireland. Her doctoral thesis research at the University of Cincinnati led to the discovery of novel mechanisms of a peptide that were under trials for the treatment of diabetes. Currently, Dr. Kinzig is a post-doctoral fellow at John Hopkins University School of Medicine where she is involved in the research of human subject with anorexia nervosa—studying how the gut and brain interact and the effects of dieting on the body and brain.In 1996, Kimberly married Joseph Kinzig.
